I love Wooster Collective. I’ll just leave it there. Check out this interview with graf writers in Shanghai talking about the whos, whys and whatfors of doing it. It is completely compelling, if I had to pick something that I found the most interesting was the treatment of these guys by cops. Given what I know about Chinese culture, I’d have thought graffiti would be a major no no, but these guys all talk about how the cops more or less don’t really care. One guy after explaining what he was doing said the cops said, ok, but if he comes back and the work is shitty, they’re going to get it. I mean, compare that to what happens in NYC. Y’know? Although, as far as I can tell it may be because every last piece of work I saw in that video was fantastic. I dunno, I’m just saying, watch this thing.
