Yay for summer! Boo for monday. Yay for art!
Dig this, Neatorama has reprinted some odd facts that science has uncovered. For example an extremely important part of this science was discovering that the current popularity of the word “dude” dates back to Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Dude. That’s science. Let me drop another bomb on your brain. Parents favor cute kids over the uglies. That’s why I was brought up in such a coddled, favored environment. I’m just saying. I always knew it, but now it’s proven.
You know, one time a few years ago I had a lucid dream. I know because I literally said this to myself, “Well, if this is a dream then I should be able to fly.” Which I promptly did, although the walls and the ceiling grew along with my flight. This freaked me out so fully that like a big dumbass I was like, “Crap! I should wake up.” Which I also did. Since then I’ve not had another such episode. But now there’s Lucidpedia, a wiki devoted to the topic of inducing such dreams. (via) See also the FAQ, which is more texty, the wiki seems to have a lot of videos. This crap is awesome.
And closely related this is the dream of Google’s Android. WSJ is reporting that handsets have been delayed until 4th quarter this year. (here’s a handy google search to see this article for free) Which is, strangely, what I thought they said all along? But I guess that’s a delay. Still, my guess is that we’ll see more delays before we’ll be able to buy phones. What I found most interesting about the article is that Google’s working so hard with T-Mobile to get something done they’re ignoring Sprint. Huh. How’s that for favouring your good looking child and ignoring the ugly one? Also, the lack of broad developer support – I’m guessing that it’s hard to develop software that’s supposed to run on hardware with arbitrary screen size and input methods. I’m just saying.
