Afternoon Awwww… Baby Hippo loves the Crocodiles

Just in case you thought I came across as too pro-cat and anti-crocodile in that last post here’s one that shows the crocs in a oh so cute light. Here they are quietly tearing apart the antelope or whatever when the hippos wade in and start nipping on the crocodiles. The best part is about a minute in when the baby hippo walks into the family of crocs, you can see the crocs are way bigger than the hippo but they just don’t care. Baby just walks up and lightly nips all those tails. Awww! Kinda reminds you of this video, right??

The animal kingdom is a very, very strange kingdom. Gentle and tolerant aren’t necessarily the words that spring to mind when you think of hippo and crocodile, no?

  • LOL, fantastic. (I still always want to type phantastique :) The warm weather definitely mellows out a croc. Also, next time I'm at the table with a big slab of tofu, you *know* I'm gonna try that spinning move.

  • I believe the crocs tolerate the babies because they know the adult hippos would kill them if they attacked it. Regardless, awesome footage!

    Man, them crocs just lyin there...maybe they like it, like a back rub or something. In that last part, though, they just look like they're tired/passed out. Maybe they're in a food coma after too much antelope. And all that spinning sh*t they do while they eat has got to take up alot of energy. If I were spinning and eating at the same time, I'd be tired afterwards, too. Plus the warm weather plays a factor.
