Breakfast Links: Stripping Bag Snatcher, WB.com (v Hulu?) & Martha Stewart Quiz
This one news report seems to come straight out of Johnny Dangerously (found that scene, but was thinking of the one where they keep changing the color of the car - or was that in one of the Naked Gun movies?). A japanese man who’d been snatching women’s purses for years has finally been caught - his trick was to wear 3-5 t-shirts and strip them off as he made his escape so that when he was reported wearing a particular color he’d already be onto something else. (via) How awesome is that? Very, is the answer you’re looking for. Maybe he was inspired by that time Michael Stipe wore all those t-shirts to that award show. Who knows?
Well, you’d know if those award shows were going to be carried on the new TheWB.com video site. Sadly they won’t be. But TheWB.com is going to be the latest network backed free video site - hopefully it’ll be strong competition for Hulu, it will attempt to one up NBC’s site by having a robust search - it seems to have tried to index all the dialogue from all of its shows for your searching pleasure. Now that is something. Apparently it has difficulty with non-dictionary words like Kryptonite (wait, is Kryptonite not in the dictionary??) and it’ll also offer up some kind of clip editing feature where you can do some crazy crap and then embed it in your website. Neat. Not sure when it’s going to launch.
Finally, here’s another chance for you to test your wits against mine. You will surely come out the loser. The latest proving ground is this quiz where you will attempt to discern whether or not Martha Stewart has actually promoted this particular product. (via) From a dog grooming kit to a windshield visor, we’ll see who comes out standing. I got a whopping 5 out of 10. I’m sure you won’t be able to match that.
