My iPhone 3.0 hope chest

Well… the naming confusion continues, this time we’re on iPhone 3.0 – as opposed to iPhone 3G and iPhone 1? 2G? Who knows… The annoucement’s coming today at 1pm EST and hopefully it’ll be a chock full of goodness, doesn’t seem like new hardware’s circling the rumor mill, so just a big OS update. figure I’d send out my wishlist to the Universe (or Steve, whichever).
1) Background apps. The mill doesn’t ascribe much to this one, but I’ve got my digits crossed. My only hope here is that their utter radio silence on the silly push solution they touted initially and then Marty McFly style, erased from existence – was a sign that while it maybe sounded good in the boardroom when they actually tried to implement it realized it wouldn’t actually work in real life. With the Pre and Android all rousting about with background processes, hopefully they simply kicked the real deal into gear.
2) Tethering. Man, this would be great. I’ve got my Sprint Aircard and I love it, the few times I use it, but I’d really love to drop that and save a few bucks with a cheaper tethering iPlan. It’d just be so convenient.
3) Video recording. I find I use my iPhone camera a lot, more than that there’s all kinds of fun camera apps around. While, I don’t know if I’d take a lot of video, I have a sneaking suspicion that video would spawn a whole realm of neat new iPhone apps that monkey around with that and I’d like to see what happens with ubiquitous video combined with a device with more horsepower than the average digicam and an interface that invites playing around.
I think those are my top three. I mean, sure I’d like copy and paste, but I find myself wishing for it so little that, I’d be ok without it for a little more. Same with MMS. Shrug. What’re you hoping for?
