Breakfast Links: Near Darwin Award, Judo Fungus & Capoiera Fighter 3

A woman made a strong bid for this year’s Darwin Award – she decided that it would be cool to jump over a zoo’s fence and then swim 10 meters across a pool in an enclosure filled with 4 polar bears. There’s even a video of her desperately realizing the error of her ways – it’s kinda brutal so you know, watch at your own discretion – but here’s a spoiler, she makes it out and is taken to a hospital. I mean, come on – I know Knut was cool when he was little, but even assuming that he’s still a cuddly bear that won’t maul you to death, well you gotta know that the other three bears will…

Ok, here’s a sad one from Japan. Apparently an infectious skin fungus is running rampant through Judo and Sumo players across the country. It’s kinda like athlete’s foot except on your scalp – I guess that’s like athlete’s head. Not only is this completely gross, but it could affect the sport itself as who the hell wants to keep playing a sport that gives you a skin eating fungus? Plus, the treatment is like a three month deal, so it takes awhile to fix. Nasty.

In the meantime, all those out of playing judo guys could take up the much safer Capoiera Fighter 3. (via) A remarkably full featured game modeled after Street Figher, with a roster of players, a bunch of different playing moves and what nots. It’s kinda awesome.
