Breakfast Links: De-baptism, Toilet Defense & Landing Planes

This is pretty awesome… and odd. A guy who was baptised when he was 5 months old just got the church to remove the records of his baptism! (via) The reason? Well, reasonably, it’s because he said he never consented to it so it doesn’t count. Huh! I wonder if that’s valid, you know, in god’s eyes – cause most 5 month olds probably haven’t explicitly consented to having their sins washed away. Hmm… He also got a de-baptism certificate from the National Secular Society(!?!) rejecting superstitions and the idea of original sin. Bad ass.

Ok. So. A guy is on trial for he is said to have “poisoned [his wife] with a migraine drug and pushed her face into the toilet to drown her while she vomited.” Damn. But he says that it was actually a suicide and she drowned herself in the toilet?? This is insane, so the defense is looking for a 5′8″ woman to re-enact, in some way, this toilet experience to try and prove that it is possible for what they claim to have happened to happen. The even more insane thing? This is the second trial because the first trial had to be redone because an “expert witness who conducted the first round of toilet tests exaggerated his credentials.” He exaggerated his toilet suicide credentials. What? What??

Finally, a little bit of uplifting news. Kinda. Well, a passenger was able to land his twin-engine plane after the pilot died. He saved his wife and daughters with the help of air traffic controllers who helped him land. So, that’s uplifting right? Except for my new fear that not only can things go wrong with the plane, but the pilot can die. So. I guess that’s a mixed bag. But in other flying news, I mean, check out this pilot who lands his plane after losing a wing! What the hell even happened at the end?? I mean, if I saw that exact footage in a movie, I’d laugh at how fake it was.
