Breakfast Links: NYC Highline Opening!, Veggie Days & Dollhouse HOPE!

Wow, after what seems like approximately forever, the Highline is actually scheduled to open next month! Or at least a section of it. This park built on what used to be elevated railroad tracks should be pretty awesome – I suspect it’s going to be ridiculously packed, but I’m really excited to have it. Ever since I was on that one somewhere in Paris that was really cool, I thought huh, NYC should have one of these and some years later boom. I basically take all credit for the Highline.

Elsewhere, the Belgian city of Ghent is about to institute a policy where one day a week all civil servants and elected councillors will opt for vegetarian meals! (via) I guess it’s to promote the recognition of the effect of livestock on the environment. So that’s pretty cool, I wonder how well all these folks are going to stick to this. It is slated to eventually go to school kids who will have their own veggie day in September as a move to also help tackle obesity. They’re even printing “veggie street maps” with all the city’s vegetarian eateries! I have a sudden urge to visit Ghent…

And lastly… Dollhouse. Apparently, Joss has pitched his vision for the second season of Dollhouse to the Fox execs and hope remains alive that the show will not be canceled. ZOMG!1!!! Eliza Dushku tweeted “DOLLHOUSE talk’s are goin’ on~ it’d be an extravaganza bonanza to return 4 rnd 2!” man alive! 5 by 5!! I’m just freaking saying.

  • First of all, that elevated park is going to be right by my house! JOY!

Second of all, "It is slated to eventually go to school kids who will have their own veggie day in September as a move to also help tackle obesity" If they want to tackle obesity they should have a no chips and candy bar day.
