Updated iPhone App Reviews: pTerm 1.2 and aMaze!
Just updated two of my reviews. First is the SSH client review which sees pTerm bumped a minor revision to 1.2. The two key bits are the addition of more hard keys (especially esc) at the top of the screen and customizable term sizes. Some other folks may like the key management and logging features.
Also, [...]
iPhone SSH review: iSSH v. pTerm v. TouchTerm v. SSH
UPDATED Wed Sep 3 08:59:26 EDT 2008: Updated for pTerm 1.2. New hard keys at the top (esc!), key management and custom terminal sizes (amongst others).
UPDATED Fri Aug 22 07:46:26 EDT 2008: Updated for iSSH 1.1. It now allows for multiple simultaneous connections which may make it the app for some. For me, I still [...]
iPhone App Review: Wordpress
Well, the Wordpress app hit yesterday like a ton of bricks. No shortage of folks were waiting for this bad boy, it seems. Not really surprising given how popular Wordpress is, as far as blogging goes, it’s arguably the best of the bunch. (Ok, a lot of people would argue that, but it’s what powers [...]
Of course the iPhone is a gaming platform and a computing one, too.
Ok, (sorry one more iPhone post then I’ll stop for a bit) Om wondered if the iPhone was the new gaming platform and Duncan knows it is. Of course it is! It was obvious as soon as they showed Super Monkey Ball and the rest of the games at the keynote. It’s got the big [...]
iPhone App Review: The Miscellanea
Ok, the last post (weep) in my iPhone App Review series. Kinda just a sweep all of the random other apps I’ve got installed. (You already read the others? Twitter Client, Movie Apps and Accelerometer Games? Don’t you think you ought to?)
AIM and Facebook
I downloaded AIM all excited and you know… it works. It’s nice [...]
iPhone App Review: BoxOffice v. Movies.app v. Showtimes
Next up in my review-athon (what? Did you miss my Twitter clients review? Two makes an -athon!) is a look at the local movie finding apps. I’m just looking at the free ones, there’s at least one pay one, but the free does what I want so I don’t feel the urge to look elsewhere, [...]
iPhone Twitter App Review: Twittelator v. Twitterrific
UPDATE Mon Jul 14 18:35:34 EDT 2008: Andrew just let me know that he’s already built in a browser to Twittelator and will be releasing v1.1 to the App Store just as soon as Apple gets around to clearing up the queue. Oh. Yeah.
UPDATED: Andrew Stone just dropped some learnin’ on me. In fact Twittelator [...]
iPhone App Store is up! Apps galore and a couple thoughts.
Well, the App Store is up and running. You have to do some nonsense to get it - search in the iTunes store for say “AIM” which is nice and short, then click on the AIM app in the results, then in the crumbs next to the back button click “App Store”. It’s got around [...]
Urlfetch redirects, an App Engine mis-documentation
So I’ve spent a couple evenings working on a little App Engine project and butting heads with the urlfetch module. What I’ve been trying to do is discover what the end location is for a 3xx redirect. I finally figured it out, to my chagrin, and thought I’d post it up in case anyone else [...]
Online Apps are always upgraded
This one’s pretty obvious, but it’s something that is interesting, at least. In general for the software industry, getting people upgraded was an important part of the business model - I’m not talking about paid upgrades to the next major version, I’m simply talking about getting fixes and patches out to the user base. Upgrading [...]
